We understand the unique mental health challenges refugees and newcomers face upon arrival to Canada. Many face challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression and cultural adjustment.

As part of our commitment to accessible care, we provide counselling and psychotherapy services to those who are eligible under Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) ensuring that refugees and asylum seekers across the Greater Toronto Area and Ottawa are are provided with the mental health support they need during this transition time. What is Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
The Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) provides limited, temporary coverage of health-care benefits for specific groups of people in Canada who don’t have provincial, territorial, or private health-care coverage.
IFHP supports refugees and asylum seekers by providing FREE access to:

Psychiatric care, counseling, and psychological support.

Services from licensed mental health professionals, including psychotherapists and counselors.

Treatments for trauma, stress, and other mental health issues common among those who have been displaced.

Support services for refugees in adapting to life in Canada by addressing mental health issues that may arise due to cultural adjustments, language barriers, and resettlement stress.

What is the benefit of this program?
We are an approved provider under the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) with benefits managed by Medavie Blue Cross. All counselling and psychotherapy services are billed directly to Medavie Blue Cross, thereby alleviating one of the many financial constraints refugees and asylum seekers.
